Introduces elements of power & control in relationships. Discussion includes the Cycle of Abuse, Power & Control Wheel & Continuum of Violence.
This session focuses on the impact of an abusive relationship on individual health & wellness. Discussion includes domestic violence misconceptions, why individuals stay in abusive/unhealthy relationships and tips for self-care.
The impact of domestic violence on children in the home is the focus of this session. Stages of development and the influence of domestic violence on those stages is discussed as well as well as tips on being a nurturing parent. The following video, First Impressions is shared at the beginning of this session and is the foundation for the remaining lesson.
This session covers recognizing change in an abusive partner who is seeking out treatment for the need to use power & control in relationships. In this session setting healthy boundaries in relationships is also reviewed. Equality and healthy characteristics in relationships are discussed as well as signs of an abusive personality.
